5 Songs I Love w/ Exsonvaldes

Following the release of their latest single 'Party People' we caught up with French Indie-Pop trio Exsonvaldes to find out what influences their eclectic sound. If you like Exsonvaldes' picks be sure to check out 'Party People' at the end of the article.

1. Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box

"We recently asked ourselves which famous songs we wished we had written and after a long debate, we settled on this song from Nirvana's last album In Utero, which just turned 30. Nirvana has been one of the most - if not the most - influential bands in our musical career, and this song perfectly encapsulates both the power of the band and the strange and beautifully crafted songwriting of Kurt Cobain."

2. Queen - I Want To Break Free

"We've always been massive Queen fans and it was our sound engineer’s favourite track. We even attempted to cover this song when we started (giving it an indie-shoegazy treatment), most un-notably in a hamburger restaurant in Fribourg, Switzerland. It wasn't a success but it's a fun memory!"

3. Ferielle - Riviera

"Ferielle is a young singer-songwriter from Paris signed to our label Finalistes. She just released this great video for the song "Riviera". She's super talented and will be releasing her first album soon."

4. Soulwax - When Logics Die

"This is a song from Soulwax's second record "Much against everyone's advice". This was before they became world-renowned DJs and remixers. It's an interesting part of their career. At the time they were opening for their Belgian fellows dEUS and that's how we discovered them. We've been following and loving everything they did since and already have tickets to see them live in Paris in January."

5. Soft Loft - Is It Me

"We recently discovered Soft Loft at the Waves Vienna festival (where Ferielle was playing too). Pure, clear and well-written indie music from Switzerland. Our new favourite band."
