1. PinkPantheress - 'Reason'
This song has been on repeat lately. I love the style and energy of this song. It’s very upbeat but has a sad undertone. There’s something about PinkPanthress’ music that feels nostalgic. And I can’t get that guitar out of my head!
2. Frank Ocean - 'Lost'
This list wouldn’t be right if I didn’t include Frank Ocean. Channel Orange changed my life, and this song takes me back to the days when tumblr was a thing. Like all of his songs, I love how he’s able to tell a story, and of course the groovy production by Malay made it an instant favorite of mine. This one is never leaving my playlist.
3. Stevie Wonder - 'You and I'
I mean come on now! He’s a living legend and musical genius. The voice, the artistry, the skill, Stevie Wonder has it all and this is one of my favorite songs by him. It’s full of emotion and you can feel the passion from beginning to end. I can’t forget to mention his modulations at the end of the song...CHILLS! Stevie Wonder is the GOAT for real!
4. N*E*R*D - 'Run To The Sun'
This one is a vibe for sure. Legit one of my favorite songs! I love the theme of leaving everything behind and running away with the one you love. N.E.R.D was way ahead of their time and very influential to today’s sound in alternative/ contemporary R&B. I definitely draw inspiration from them.
5. Ravyn Lenae - 'Close (Ode 2 U)'
This song is so smooth and funky! I could listen to it everyday and never get tired of it. I love the way Ravyn Lenae uses her voice on this track and Steve Lacy never disappoints with his production. Those rich harmonies in the chorus and addictive bass line made this track an instant favorite. I love it!
