Following the release of their latest single "Serenity"' we caught up with Swedish band Those Without to find out what influences their eclectic sound.
1. Machine Gun Kelly - Bloody Valentine
Niki (Drums): "This is the first recording I've done with Those Without since I joined the band. I took a lot of inspiration from their previous songs and of course wanted to add my own style. Keeping it simple but throwing in some flare to it. Machine Gun Kelly (with Travis Barker on the drums) are a great inspiration for keeping it simple but yet find unique ways to stick out"
2. Honey Revenge - Rerun
Oskar (Vocals): ” I’ve always been a sucker for vocal melodies. if a singer has a gorgeous voice AND they use it to sing beautiful melodies, it’s a home run for me. lots of modern pop punk bands really rise to that challenge, but one new age song that really hit that special part of my brain in the best way is Rerun by Honey Revenge. chefs kiss"
3. The Story So Far - If I Fall
Martin (Guitar): "Like most people playing in a pop-punk band, I've been listening to this band for a while. When we started working on ”Serenity”, this song inspired me on what route we should be going when writing the song. I think it fits the vibe well and that it works like a great contrast to our most previous release which is much heavier and energetic."
4. The Tallest Man On Earth - Rivers
Filip (Bass): “The lyrics and emotions of a song has always been important to be and a timeless favorite of mine is “Rivers” by The Tallest Man on Earth. I adore his whole discography but there are a few song that stand out, “Rivers” being one of them. The honesty and heart that he brings to his music is something I aspire to do with each song I write.”
5. blink-182 - Dammit
Felix (Guitar): "Every time i get the question "What riff do you wish you wrote?" the answer has been Dammit. The simplicity, the catchiness and the drive all makes for a special feeling for me. I have spent years trying to recreate that feeling while writing and i will probably have to try for atleast a few more".
