Originally released earlier this year, Glennellen Anderson has recently revealed the truly beautiful music video for the stunning 'Fanfiction'. Directed by Glennellen and Taylor Krause this delectable journey will have your eyes glued to the screen from the opening shots and throughout. Inspired by, “a relationship shared between two humans, a guy and a girl, broken apart", Glennellen shared that "in this music video, as the audience: we are looking at what lies beneath the surface of what was once a magical relationship."
Taken off her recent EP unbirthday, 'Fanfiction' is the track that just keeps on giving. With a slowly building soundscape, a spoken word section and an abundance of sass towards the end, this may well be the perfect modern pop single. Delving further into the creative and visual idea's behind the project, Glennellen explained: "One partner bore their soul, while the other only scratched the surface; therefore, not allowing for something deeper to evolve from the relationship. The pain inflicted on the partner who vulnerably gave their all to the relationship cannot even be seen by their surface-level partner. This causes a rift in communication, as they are both on completely different sides of the spectrum. She carries the truth, while only wearing his story. He wants the world, his peers, to only see him as the way he perceives himself. Eventually, the burden can no longer be carried by her.”
Bring together both the visual and audio, Glennellen described: “The spoken word bridge is 'the phone call that never happened.' At the end of the video, she is free of the fiction he writes about himself daily, erasing the words from her own body and leaving them - as well as him - behind.”
With 2021 shaping up to be the most thrilling year of Glennellen Anderson's career to date, this deeply moving music video for 'Fanfiction' is just the latest in a long line of thrilling releases still to come.
