Express Office Portico release new single 'Cosmic Joke'

Nottingham's trusty indie five-piece are back and bolder than ever, with their newest venture 'Cosmic Joke'. Proving to be their best release yet, the single is an otherworldly rock rollercoaster that is packed with infectious riffs, and a light narrative to ease you into summer.

Discussing the single, the band explain:

“‘Cosmic Joke’ came about by trying and failing to work out the chords to the 70s classic “I’d Rather Be with You” by Bootsy Collins. As big fans of artists immersed in RnB and Funk (Erykah Badu, Yellow Days, Steve Lacy), we began thinking, how would an Express Office Portico track with these accidental chords sound? Cosmic Joke evolved from there, with other influences such as Men I Trust, Beach House, Yellow Days, Rex Orange County & Mac Demarco adding to its creation."

The group has risen quickly via their live antics, with performances at Dot To Dot Festival and The Bodega, supporting Swim School, proving to be some of their finest outings. Their extraterrestrial single will surely strengthen the band's rise to prominence, and we'd consider Express Office Portico to be a safe bet as one to watch this year.
