5 Songs I Love w/ Nick Rannikko

Massachusetts artist Nick Rannikko has honed his craft for many years, leading up to his most recent release 'More'. The crackling lo-fi track has a warm and nostalgic feel that will make you keep it on repeat. Following the release, we caught up with the artist to find out what music inspires him. Check out 'More' below...

1. Machine Gun Kelly - Concert For Aliens

Pop-punk will never cease to amaze and excite me. This song always gets me pumped. What really gets me into it is the straightforward intro and the electric guitars’ simple but effective power chords. Honestly, the whole album is great but this particular song wakes me up in the morning, gets me hyped, and calls for a great day ahead.

2. Dillon Francis - Touch

Dillon francis has been one of my favorite artists since the I.D.G.A.F.O.S days. The man always brings a good vibe and strong synths with powerful drums. Touch is such a groovy and fun car ride vibe. Silky smooth! It's so catchy and smooth you can't resist moving your body. I especially love BabyJake’s vocals on this song. I don’t think anyone else could have captured the true feeling of the song.

3. Halsey - More

Another song where SIMPLE. IS. KEY. There's not much going on in this song other than the beautiful ambient chords from bells, pads, and voices. WHICH IS ALL THE SONG NEEDS! Along with the powerful vocals and meaning behind them, this is a song I occasionally scream in my car at full blast. Very underrated in my opinion.

4. BENEE - Happen To Me

My music taste is everywhere but alternative is hands down one of my favorite genres. I started getting into alt when I first discovered BENEE with Happen To Me. It's not really something I've heard before and that’s what I love about it. BENEE’s voice is so lush and airy I instantly fell in love. It has this drum and bass type rhythm but has a beautiful chorus and texture to the song that I love singing and also screaming in my car. Its just so soothing and so well mixed my ears get satisfied after every play.

5. The Chainsmokers - Closer

This song will forever be a part of my younger self. I think for me, the reason I love this song so much is because of the nostalgia I have with it. Lot’s of memories are based around ‘Closer’ and It makes me happy every time I listen to it. Just like summer 2017 again. The chorus was so catchy, It was a different sound no one’s heard before. I’ve probably played this song over 800 times now and it’ll keep racking up till the day I die.
