Rising solo artist Gilska has been building a feverish hype with raido play across BBC national radio and heaps of press coverage. Now back with the alluring new single 'SALT' the London based artist had hit a new high.
With a sound that sits as well amongst pop tunes as it does EDM bangers, we wanted to know more about what music inspires Gilska.
Over to Gilska to offer up 5 of her faves:
1. Who’s That Calling? By Olga Myko
Who’s That Calling by Olga Maiko is one of my favorite tracks right now because it instantly throws me back to the bold, glossy energy of the 2010s, with that unmistakable Rihanna and Timbaland-style expressiveness. It has this unapologetic attitude and sass that makes me feel like a total bad bitch every time it comes on. The melodies feel nostalgic but still fresh, and the production is incredibly cool and polished, giving the whole track a confident, effortless vibe that just makes me feel really good.
2. Touch It by Ariana Grande
Touch It by Ariana Grande is my next favorite song at the moment because it captures that intense desire and chemistry you feel when you really want someone. The verses are soft and romantic, almost delicate, and then the chorus hits with that huge, dirty synth that completely explodes and takes the song to another level. It feels massive and immersive, like it transports you to a higher dimension. It’s sexy, uplifting, and the perfect track to play when you’re deep in your feelings or crushing hard on someone.
3. Couldn’t be worse by Jessie Murph
Couldn’t Be Worse by Jessie Murph is one of my favorite tracks right now because it wraps such a messy, complex message inside an upbeat, almost hype-sounding production. It feels like it’s about sticking something out for better or worse and accepting the hurt that might come with it—not just in relationships, but in life—choosing to go all in even when you could get burned. That whole “it could be worse” mindset is strangely empowering and fearless, and I love how the cool, interesting production gives that darker edge an addictive, energetic vibe.
4. Perfumito Nuevo by Bad Bunny, RailNao
Perfumeito Nuevo by Bad Bunny is one of those tracks I don’t even need to fully understand lyrically to feel deeply connected to. The production is an absolute masterpiece—the massive, larger-than-life synths are insane, especially paired with the soft vocal floating over the top. It perfectly captures that intoxicating allure of meeting someone new and the excitement of fresh attraction. Every time I hear it, I’m transported back to being 18 in the club, dancing, making connections, and living in the moment—it gives me that same rush of nostalgia and makes those memories feel alive all over again.
5. Chains of love by Charli xcx
Chains of Love by Charli XCX resonates so deeply with me because it captures that feeling of having everything look perfect on paper, yet knowing in your gut that something isn’t right. It reflects that sense of being emotionally trapped—like a prisoner in something that’s supposed to be love. The lyrics are everything in this song, and the production is unbelievable; the choruses are huge, breathtakingly gorgeous, and uplifting, which makes the heavy subject matter hit even harder. It’s layered, emotional, and incredibly special to me.
