5 Songs I Love w/ Benny Inspire

Singer/songwriter Benny Inspire is back with his latest track, "Moonlight." The sweet ballad blends powerful choruses with wistful verses, an ode to the power of the moon and our love for others. We sat down with Ben to discuss which tracks he looks to for his own inspiration!

  1. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

"I used to practice singing this song every day. Freddie was always sort of a vocal mentor to me in many ways. I admired his tonal qualities and ability to belt with such umphhh. So naturally I 100% adore this song. As well as I love his personal statement he is making from deep within himself."

2. What's Up - 4 Non Blondes

"Somewhat similar I love the statement Linda is making. And this is just such a song that every time you put it on you are just belting at the top of your lungs. I don't care how high it goes or who is singing.... this is that song that just brings it out of you and you go, 'Hell Yeah.' Incredible songwriting."

3. Money, Money, Money - ABBA

"Yeah ABBA is so legit. The songwriting and vocals cascade upon you. Particularly this song has such a feel to it. For hours after the melody is enmeshed in me. It seems every road trip I go on it somehow finds me. I guess it also helps that ABBA is one of my wife's absolute favorites! And we have altered the lyrics a bit and sing it to one of our dogs."

4. Whenever, Wherever - Shakira

"Okay. So this and the Spanish version are just so raw. Personally my favorite of Shakira's outside of her first albums in Spanish. She just has such an incredible voice that weaves in and out of so many places. You just again have to sing along and go for it. Also I love the songwriting and production of the song so much. It is a blend of Latin, world, and pop in such a way that I deeply love."

5. Heaven - DJ Sammy

"So there are so many late 90s, early 00s trance songs that just sing to my soul, and this is absolutely one of them. Perhaps it's the in your face bright melodies and counter melodies. Maybe it's the great vocal performance or fabulous builds and tension. Or it might just be the early raving nostalgia that gets me! I dunno what - yet in so many ways songs like this have very much inspired me and my songwriting."
