Following the release of his latest single, 'KEEP MY EYES ON YOU', in collaboration with vocalist Luisa Wilson. Flex caught up with Manhattan producer Charcom to discuss the influence behind his blend of progressive house and melodic pop sound. If you enjoy Charcom's picks, be sure to check out 'KEEP MY EYES ON YOU' at the end of the article.
1. Lastlings - Holding Me Like Water
Lastlings’ execution of modern dance pop blended with melodic house is a huge inspiration for my latest music. Their ability to create emotional depth on the dancefloor really resonates with me.
2. Chris Lake - Savana
Chris Lake’s level of detail and control in a track like Savana deeply excites me. His expertise
pushes me to become a better producer and DJ every day.
3. Drake - Star67
I’m shamelessly a Drake fan, and Star67 might be my favorite song of his. I can’t even fully
explain why. There’s just something about the mood, the fragmented structure, the way it drifts. It’s raw but lowkey. That kind of emotional undercurrent always sticks with me.
4. Rezident & Von Boch feat. Elissa Mielke - Hold On
“Hold On” by Rezident was a big influence on KEEP MY EYES ON YOU — that tension, that
steady pulse, and how it holds so much feeling without ever overdoing it. I wanted to capture
something similar: emotional but restrained, danceable but still intimate.
5. Yana - Conditional
The songwriting and emotion in Conditional really stood out to me. It’s thoughtful and layered, and Yana delivers it all with a soft, buttery voice and beautiful harmonies. The instrumental feels like a warm, satisfying bed for the vocal. I couldn't stop listening to this one last year.
