Following the release of her latest EP '11.11', Flex caught up with London-based pop artist Elfi to discover what influences her glittery pop sound. If you enjoy Elfi's picks, be sure to check out '11.11' at the end of the article.
Let Alone The One You Love - Olivia Dean
One of those songs that I wish I had written. Olivia captures the fragility of a relationship in which someone tries to keep you small. And how important it is to run away from people that make you feel that way.
The Dream - The Favors
This song might be my most played song of this year. It reminds me of my time in LA, when I was working on my second EP. Finneas and Ashe are truly on another level.
Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac
When I joined the music academy, I wrote my first paper entirely on Silver Springs. About the emotional turmoil, about it being a b-side track. And how much of a genius Stevie Nicks is.
Buut Vrij - S10
Being a Dutchie, I of course had to include one artist from my country. I'm a big fan of S10, I love her lyric writing. And I think even when you don't understand the language, the emotion on this track is piercing.
Send my love to your new lover - Adele
The queen of the break-up song - Adele. As someone who takes most inspiration from my own love life (or lack thereof), she is a never ending example. Also the only concert I ever cried at was Adele. Cried my eyes out for the first 5 songs.
