ellipse has always been attuned to sound - whether they be from nature, the lush instruments of cultures around the world, or domains of synthetic creations. She designs her productions as intricate sonic landscapes: combining organic, textural elements with meticulous synth work.
Just recently, ellipse debuted her new alias and dropped her first single, 'Poison', a new beginning for the artist as well as a symbolic ode to the past.
ellipse shares 5 songs that inspired her music and her most recent track, 'Poison'.
Alex Avenues, Luna Iyana, Steve.Artchild - Sondela
This song puts me under a spell immediately. The number one emotion I crave in music is to feel like I’m floating and I’m on such a luscious cloud of vocals and chords. I forget where and when I am and just surrender.
William Light, The Caracal Project - Laminar
Such carefully threaded samples, such tight drums, such tension bubbling underneath the surface and there’s this beautiful restrained soul about to explode on the horizon. And it’s got such an incredible ending; I feel like in these days of short attention spans, a good epic ending is sorely underrated.
Oklou - Galore
This got me through the pandemic. There’s this unearthly analog earth angel thing going on here, and I’m into it. She sculpts negative space so intently, and you’re at the mercy of her soft voice and arpeggios.
Koan Sound - Ascension
This gives me “eternal classic” vibes in the tradition of Omni Trio’s Renegade Snares or Goldie’s Inner City Life. It reminds me of the time where I dedicated my life to jungle music. It reminds me of seeing the sunrise at a festival in the mountains and crying because the colors are so incredible.
Machinedrum - Star (ft. Mono/Poly & Tanerélle)
The ultimate convergence of every sonic color that I crave in music. Shuffly broken beats, moody soft chords, melancholy delicate vocals and gorgeous cadences over the raindrop guitars and synths.
