Following the release of his latest single 'Everything's changing, Flex caught up with Pop-Punk artist Josh Holmes to find out more about what influences his sound. If you enjoy Josh's picks be sure to check out 'Everything's Changing' at the end of the article.
1. Simple Plan - I’m just a kid
"Simple Plan are one of my biggest Pop Punk influences and this is a song that was released so long ago but is still one of my favourites and it also goes down really well live."
2. LUNARS - Hey! Wait!
"LUNARS are one of my favourite bands at the moment, I love the energy and catchy songs they’ve got, this track also has a great music video to it. The songwriting and production behind this song is also something I’d love to make music in a similar style too."
3. Fall Out Boy - Young Volcanoes
"This one, not only is a great song, but also has a really cool music video. This song is on my list because of the chorus and the more acoustic feel within the song. It’s really catchy and this is a lot of fun to cover when I play live."
4. Knox - Not the 1975
"This is another really catchy song. I like how punchy and catchy the chorus is and it’s just got a great singalong vibe to it. I also discovered this through TikTok which I love being able to see social media working in a positive way."
5. Dean Lewis - Hurtless
"One of my favourite songwriters is Dean Lewis, this song Hurtless has very meaningful lyrics which is something I would love to develop in my own songwriting. I like to tell a story within my songs, and I think Dean Lewis does this really well."
