Every artist has a handful of songs that become part of their DNA, whether they first discovered a love for music through them, connected them to a particular moment in their life or simply kept coming back to them time and time again. For dance producer KEPA, those influences reflect the energy and escapism at the heart of his own sound, from the feel-good dance records that have soundtracked nights out to the house, UK garage and electronic sounds that continue to shape his artistic direction.

With his new single “All Night Long” bringing a fresh, club-focused energy to Lionel Richie’s timeless anthem, KEPA catches up with Flex for 5 Songs I Love. Along the way, he talks through five tracks that have left a lasting impression on him, exploring the records that shaped his taste, the artists who have influenced his approach, and the sounds that continue to inspire his journey from the studio to the dancefloor.

1. Avicii – Seek Bromance

“Seek Bromance” was the first Avicii track I remember seeing on TV as a music video, and it started a whole journey for me of discovering his music. I also absolutely love the video and its feeling of summer, freedom and escape. That kind of summer getaway vibe is something I’ve always been drawn to, both in music and visually.

2. Duke Dumont – I Got U

“I Got U” was something really special for me. When I first saw the music video, I was completely blown away. The POV concept felt so fresh at the time, and combined with the track’s perfect summer vibe, it genuinely felt like I was the guy wearing the VR headset in the video. It’s one of those songs that just never gets old for me.

3. Rules – Could Have Been So Good (feat. Bandit)

“Could Have Been So Good” was a big music discovery for me in 2023, when I first heard his remixes. This track in particular was literally on repeat on my Spotify for almost the whole year. I really love his chill house sound and the whole aesthetic of his music videos.

4. Tiësto – Beautiful Places

This one completely blew me away this year. There are some songs that give you this feeling of something bigger, something inspiring, and completely capture you for a moment. For me, this track was exactly that. It also takes me back to Tiësto’s old trance sound, which I fell in love with back in high school.

5. DJ HEARTSTRING & SWIM – Air

It just has this great Ibiza-meets-UK speed house vibe that I really love. It was on repeat on my Spotify for a long time. I love how it has so much energy but still feels light, euphoric and summery at the same time.
