We say down with the incredible Megan Kashat to learn more about what makes her unique sound. Be sure to check out her new single and find her on socials to follow along on her exciting journey!

Afeto – Mayra Andrade (Ankhoi Remix)

This has been one of my favorite tracks since I discovered it almost two years ago. The music and feeling take me out of my body—I can't even explain it. It's in Portuguese, but even before translating the lyrics I could feel the depth of the story through the tones of her voice. It’s one of those songs that makes you want to dance, cry, love… all at once. It’s touches something in me spiritually and moves me in an incredible way, and I get completely lost in it every time.

Another Life – Naomi Sharon

This one is so simple and beautifully done. I’m a lyricist so obviously that makes or breaks a song for me, and I find it incredible how she wrote something this stripped-down that still hits you like this. Her voice is raw, effortless, and full of soul. Every version, from the original to the remixes, is wonderful. She really nailed that whole track and I admire her work.

All I Need – Radiohead

Dunno where do I start with this? The line—“I’m the next act waiting in the wings”—cut like a knife. As a showgirl, I literally spent half my life in the wings, and I know all the feelings that come with it. Using that kind of metaphor to describe love was a level of brilliance I honestly strive to have. The whole song aches in the most beautiful way, almost reminding me of a past life in a 1980’s Hollywood art deco hotel, where everything is beautiful and you still can’t smile.  The musicality and tameless instrumentation between the piano line and drums specifically are honestly hypnotic.  Radiohead is the one.

Carry You – Eli Fola & Megan Kashat

Okay, I know it’s my own song, but hear me out. This one has stuck with me ever since we finished it. It felt like the song was already living inside me.  I was just waiting for the right production to transform my emotional experience into something sonic, and Eli brought the exact production that finally allowed me to do that. The song basically wrote itself. Ever since, I catch myself asking, “Does this new track hold up to Carry You?” Usually the answer is no, but it’s a pretty solid bar to reach for.

Tennessee – Laci Kaye Booth

I don’t even know how to put this one into words. She’s a genius. That song was on repeat for weeks. Her voice is sultry and warm, I’d never heard anything like it, and the story felt like it was my own. That’s real songwriting magic—when the listener sees their life in your lyrics. And she absolutely did that with Tennessee.
