We sat down with the incredible duo, Reckless Bound, who released their new single 'Glass of Whiskey'. Read on to find out more about what influences their sound, and check out the new track at the bottom!
“Need You Now” – Lady A (Both)
This song has been one of our all-time favorites to cover together. It’s a masterclass in harmony, and performing it has taught us so much about blending our voices and connecting emotionally on stage. The arrangement is timeless, and the vocal mix is truly one of a kind. Every time we sing it, we’re reminded why we fell in love with making music as a duo.
“Rattlesnake Preacher” – Ashley McBryde (Both)
This one has been on heavy repeat lately. We just can’t get enough of it. “Rattlesnake Preacher” is gritty, bold, and unapologetically raw, and we’re obsessed with the energy it brings. Ashley McBryde has been a major influence on Sydney since the very beginning of her journey in country music, and that admiration has only grown stronger over time. Her fearless songwriting and powerhouse vocals continue to inspire us both as performers and as storytellers. This track reminds us why we fell in love with country music in the first place.
“When You Say Nothing at All” – Alison Krauss (Emma’s Pick)
I tackled those finger-picked chords early on in my guitar journey, and it’s been a go-to in my set ever since. Years later, it still gets requested at every show and proof that a simple, well-crafted melody can win any crowd. As a staple of modern country, it’s the perfect blend of ease and impact, and it never fails to set the right tone.
“You’re Still the One” – Shania Twain (Emma’s Pick)
When I was about 20, I saw Shania tweet that she had a pair of free tickets for every stop on her Canadian tour to just submit a video of yourself singing your favorite Shania song. I went all-in, recording my take on “You’re Still the One”, and to my shock, I won a spot at the London, ON show. Walking into that arena, tickets in hand, felt like stepping into a dream: the lights, the roar of the crowd, and then Shania herself commanding the stage.
That night wasn’t just “great seats” it was validation. Hearing her powerhouse vocals live, feeling the energy of every note, gave me the confidence to chase my own musical ambitions. It proved that sometimes the biggest breaks come from putting yourself out there—and that a single video (and a little bit of nerve) can change your path. Shania’s influence has fueled my love for performance ever since, and I still draw on that buzz every time I step on stage.
“Stars” – Grace Potter (Sydney’s Pick)
I still remember the first time I heard a Grace Potter song because it stopped me in my tracks. Her voice, her storytelling, the emotion she poured into every lyric… it was the moment I knew I wanted to perform and write music that told stories, too. “Stars” holds a special place in my heart and always will. It’s more than a song because it’s a reminder of why I started this journey.
