Boy Harsher - Fate
"Boy Harsher is the darkwave duo couple to end all dark wave duo couples. I am so jealous of them. There are thousands of bands doing this sound, but no one comes close to their ability to weave dark danceable horror soundtrack compositions with a sultry, romantic female vocals. Music, lyrics, mood, aesthetic—it’s all perfect."
Cigarettes After Sex - Pistol
"I bought a Cigarettes After Sex single in 2015 and I’ve been listening to them ever since. It’s so gratifying when bands continue to deliver year after year. This song from 2022 is in my opinion their best song yet. It was my most played song in my 2023 Spotify wrapped."
Glassjaw - Convectuoso
"It’s very important to me to have a super tight live band. I’ve been listening to Glassjaw for 20 years and this is their peak lineup. Convectuoso is a deep cut and the recordings of it are dicey. This live performance couldn’t be better. Watch how effortlessly tight they are and listen to the dynamics at 3:34 when they kick in. They max out the mics with shear hand tone. Incredible."
Lebanon Hannover - Gallowdance
"There’s a right and wrong way to do primitive darkwave/postpunk and Gallowdance is 10/10. I’m pleased with the recognition this band is getting right now. The songs are bleak. The lyrics are urgent. This band is important."
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Melody Lane
"It’s a relief to listen to bands that sound nothing like my band. Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats are the greatest rock band on earth. This song is from my favorite record, The Night Creeper. I saw them on their last tour and their righteousness almost brought me to tears. My ears rang for 3 days."
