We sat down with the incredible Lottie Ingram upon the release of her new single 'Pretty Enough' to find out more about what influences her unique sound. Be sure to check out the new track at the bottom and follow her along her journey on socials!
Jessica Baio - Inferior
This song influenced my lyrics as I love Jessica Baio’s direct conversational style. I was inspired by how she expresses insecurity in a very real and unfiltered way, which encouraged me to be honest and specific when writing about body image and self-doubt.
Alessia Cara - Scars To Your Beautiful
This song helped shape the message and structure of my song, particularly in the chorus. Like Alessia Cara, I wanted to try to create something that acknowledges struggles with appearance and self-worth, but ultimately offers a sense of reassurance and empowerment.
Aimee Carty - Baker
I have always admired Aimee Carty’s ability to really paint a picture with her storytelling. Her writing feels personal and grounded, which inspired lines in my song that reference everyday experiences and make the emotions feel more authentic and hopefully more relatable!
Lily Allen - Somewhere Only We Know (Cover)
Lily Allen’s version of Somewhere only we Know influenced the emotional tone and delivery of my song. The softness and vulnerability in her performance encouraged me to approach my own song in a more gentle and reflective way, allowing the lyrics to feel more intimate.
Áine Dean - Alice (Living Looks Good On You)
This song inspired my exploration of social comparison and the impact of social media as well as writing a song for a friend or younger girl. It influenced lines in my song that reflect on how people present themselves online and how that can affect self-image.
