Argentina and Switzerland-based artist AKIRA released his debut solo album Niños del Bosque on August 8. The record draws from cumbia, salsa, bachata, and the wider soul of the Latin diaspora, weaving them into something he calls Psychedelic Cumbia.
Inspired by myth, spirit, and lived experience, the album pairs cinematic guitars and reverberated vocals with deep Latin rhythms. It is music that resists, remembers, and reimagines.
With Niños del Bosque, AKIRA asks listeners into a world where sound becomes refuge and rebellion. “Everyone who listens to this music automatically becomes a Niña/Niño del Bosque,” he says.
