Stoke-on-Trent’s anthemic torchbearers All The Young return with 'Something More', a track that feels like a clenched fist held high against the grey. It’s the sound of a band who’ve walked through the industry’s fire and come out sharpened, scarred, and absolutely unwilling to play small.
From the first chiming chords, there’s a familiar spark but here it’s tempered with a deeper conviction. Ryan Dooley sings like a man who’s wrestled with doubt and decided he’s done with it, his voice carrying both defiance and hard-earned optimism. The chorus, built on pure uplift, hits like a rallying cry for those refusing to sink beneath the daily noise.
Producer Gareth Nuttall gives the track a muscular frame of crisp percussion, soaring guitar lines, and a punchy low end that makes the whole thing feel built for late-night radio and festival fields in equal measure. It’s polished, but never at the expense of heart.
What elevates 'Something More' is its emotional clarity. Rather than wallowing in the heaviness of the present moment, All The Young push for transcendence. It’s optimism, born of experience, that comes from years of navigating the chaos of a major-label rise, a mid-career reboot, and the long road back to creative freedom.
The current lineup of Ryan Dooley, Arron Darlington, Mike Davies, and Tom Crompton sound completely locked in, delivering a performance that’s tight, urgent, and unmistakably charged. This is the sound of a band stepping into a second life with teeth bared and heads lifted.
'Something More' is proof that All The Young still have plenty to say and plenty of fire left to throw. It’s big, bright, and unwaveringly hopeful.
