London rising star Alysha is preparing for the biggest shows of her career, supporting LANY across four major dates in Japan and South Korea this October, as she introduces a darker side of her artistry with her latest single ‘Take It or Leave It’.

Blending goth, new-wave and electronic influences, the track sees Alysha move into a shadowy new sonic world while exploring faith, temptation and personal boundaries from an unconventional alternative perspective.

Built around nocturnal synths and brooding electronic textures, ‘Take It or Leave It’ deliberately removes spirituality from the musical settings typically associated with Christian music.

“I co-produced this song with producer Matt Rist,” Alysha explains. “I wanted to write a Goth/Electronic song about my faith which alternative people can also enjoy rather than the usual Gospel, R&B or Country you get with Christianity.”

That collision between faith and gothic aesthetics sits at the centre of the track. Alysha even references 666, using one of Christianity’s most recognisable taboo symbols to provoke curiosity and challenge expectations surrounding what faith-based music is supposed to sound like.

Despite the provocative presentation, Alysha describes its central idea in considerably simpler terms.

“It’s an Alternative genre song talking about God,” she says.

The release arrives ahead of a major step forward in Alysha’s live career. In October, she will join LANY for three stadium dates in Japan and one show in South Korea, bringing her new era to some of the biggest audiences she has performed for to date.

The shows continue a rise that has already seen Alysha accumulate more than three million Spotify streams and perform at Wild Paths and Forwards Festival, appearing on bills alongside artists including Greentea Peng, Hak Baker and The Jesus & Mary Chain.

A Cuban-Indian artist raised in St John’s Wood, London, Alysha grew up surrounded by a wide spectrum of influences spanning Joss Stone, Beyoncé and Lauryn Hill through to Siouxsie & The Banshees and church gospel.

She began writing songs at 10 and released debut single ‘David Attenborough’ at 16, later introducing herself more widely with 2020 EP Midnight Rendezvous. A creative rebrand in 2023 subsequently pushed her towards a more mature and adventurous identity.

Recent releases including ‘Lord, Help Me’ and ‘Finer Things’ have continued that evolution, with the latter generating more than two million Instagram Reel views. Alysha has also appeared in ASBO Magazine and Galore and on the covers of Vogue and Rollacoaster Magazine.

With further new music and a potential EP on the horizon, ‘Take It or Leave It’ arrives at a pivotal moment. As Alysha prepares to step onto her biggest stages yet with LANY, the single introduces an artist increasingly willing to challenge expectations around genre, spirituality and her own creative identity.
