Angry Joe and the Holy Socks find hope on new single ‘In Real Life’

Houston rock band Angry Joe and the Holy Socks have released In Real Life, a reflective new single that explores disappointment, uncertainty and the possibility of starting again.

The track was originally written years ago as one of frontman Angry Joe’s earliest guitar compositions, but remained unfinished until he recently returned to the melody. Revisiting the song allowed him to complete a story centred on feeling directionless after repeated setbacks while still holding onto the belief that circumstances can improve.

Musically, In Real Life brings together bright electric guitars, acoustic details and a broad, steady rhythm section. Its melodic approach draws on Britpop and American alternative rock, offering a warmer contrast to the heavier emotions of previous single I’ll Run Away.

The release follows the band’s second album, It’s All Pretend, which addressed addiction, identity and survival across eleven tracks.

Angry Joe and the Holy Socks continue to perform regularly in Houston, including an ongoing residency at Trilogy Brew.
