Anne Stott returns with her latest single ‘Palm Trees and Parking Lots’, a gentle piano ballad that follows on from ‘Love’s The Only High’ earlier in the year. Written with LA in mind, Stott shapes the single around the uneasy closeness of beauty and damage. The single blends together a quiet stillness and a delicate finesse as Stott reflects on the state of the City of Angels with a masterful retrospect.
Commenting on the release, she shares, “Palm Trees and Parking Lots is a love song to Los Angeles that muses on how we are all participating in climate change. When I wrote this song and shot the video, I had no idea Los Angeles would become a flashpoint for environmental disaster and anti-immigrant violence in one year. As the politics of scapegoating in the US runs rampant, Palm Trees and Parking Lots looks within at the ‘blur of human fault lines cracking open in real time’ to search for deeper, more honest truths.”
