As the lead single from Anthony Walker’s forthcoming album 'The Wind & The Witness', 'Unstoppable' begins in the dim atmosphere of a dive bar, but its real setting is somewhere in the space between memory and reality. He writes from that in-between place with a quiet confidence, allowing longing, confusion and comfort to exist beside one another without forcing any of them towards an easy conclusion.

A shimmering 12-string guitar brings brightness to the arrangement, while the rhythmic movement keeps ‘Unstoppable’ from sinking too deeply into melancholy. There are shades of The Byrds in the guitar work, traces of Elvis Costello in the lyrical sharpness, and a looser indie-pop curiosity that gives the song a more contemporary lift.

But at the centre of the song is the idea that memory can become its own kind of refuge. The narrator cannot return to what has been lost, but he can still inhabit it internally. It's a thought that reaches its clearest expression in the line, “The only way to be together is to dream / And that’s unstoppable.”

But rather than turning nostalgia into something sentimental, he treats it as a force capable of keeping people emotionally present long after circumstances have separated them. The song becomes less about closure than the acceptance that some memories are never meant to be fully resolved.

It makes ‘Unstoppable’ an intriguing introduction to 'The Wind & The Witness'. The singer-songwriter describes the wider record as something exploring uncertainty, connection and the human desire to impose order on experiences that resist it, and this first single captures that philosophy naturally.

Musically warm but emotionally restless, ‘Unstoppable’ finds Anthony Walker making ambiguity feel extremely inviting. It's a thoughtful, melodic piece of songwriting about the strange places we keep returning to, and the people who continue living there long after everything else has moved on.
