Black Sands releases 'Fearless' new single

Known for his genre-blending sound, Black Sands returns with his new darker halloween inspired single ‘Fearless’. With powerful, distorted vocals, echoey soundscapes and reverberating beats, the anthemic track creates a sense of light and shade both in its expressive lyricism and melodies. Black Sands seamlessly blends elements of Rock, R&B and Electro-Pop, all concocted to produce a flurry of magnetic energy. The spine tingling track takes many dynamic twists and turns, constructing a sound that can be defined as Nine Inch Nails meets Imagine Dragons. Its soul baring lyrics and emphatic instrumentals dramatically build to create a scintillating sonic explosion.

Discussing the release, Black Sands said:

"With Fearless we wanted to write something haunting and dystopian that really made you feel the tension or impending fear of something coming. But where we wanted to bring an unexpected element to the track is through the lyrics and vocal delivery. 'I'm finding out that fear is paper thin' puts a more positive, hopeful take on being in a fearful situation. Courage is finding strength in the face of pain, grief or fear. One common trait Ryan and I have is channeling those feelings from the losses we've both faced to be more positive and hopeful. We wanted to play with that balance in Fearless."

Trenton, ‘Fearless’’ feature vocalist explains that:

"The idea of overcoming fear in general I think is relevant for a lot of people. Particularly when it comes to facing a loss of some kind. My favorite line in the song is at the bridge because I think it sums up the whole message of the song. Facing your demons is what often will actually set you free."

Black Sands is the recording project of Milwaukee-born Andrew Balfour, who spent a decade as a touring artist for Alt-Rock bands, featuring in Alternative Press, Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos. Andrew’s Rock influences - Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones - are audible in his music, through the driving percussion and distorted guitar. Following his touring days, Andrew relocated to Amsterdam to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He found inspiration in the film scores he was surrounded by, as well as esteemed Pop artists such as The Weeknd, Billie Eilish and Post Malone. From here, Andrew was able to establish a clear vision for Black Sands, specialising in producing a sound that creates unity between a variety of elements. With 2020 proving a notable year for his music, Black Sands continues to elevate his sound to exponential heights.
