Bonneville is back with On The One

On The One is a loose-limbed celebration of classic funk, coming from Bonneville, aided by legendary drummer Bernard Purdie. In the fifth single from Hold for Room Tone, the band's forthcoming third album, the rhythmic foundations let bass and brass groove, joined by Wes McGee's glorious easy-going vocal.

“‘On the One’ was originally more rock-oriented in the beginning," Hayashi says, “but once Bernard Purdie got in the chair, we just followed that pocket." McGee also worked with pop artist and vocal coach Christina Pascalone to refine the song's vocal approach. "Christina helped me hone in on the relaxed but pointed delivery," McGee says.

Exceptional players and generous performance makes On The One a glorious release, going back-to-basics embracing a live studio feel, build with flair and purpose. Sometimes getting back to basics is precisely the point, and Bonneville makes the first beat sound like a new beginning.
