Known for her proclaimed goddess energy, Bonnie Freechild is back with her latest single, ‘Honey’. Fresh off the back of her single ‘Dopamine’ earlier in the year, the release looks to further bolster her as a fast-rising young star, already catching the attention of listeners worldwide. The single presents pop music at its most exciting, laced with R&B for a seductive aftertaste and a hint of finesse.

The opening moments showcase a solo vocal, dropping into a groovy, soulful and sultry verse with tight percussion and plucky guitar rhythms. Bonnie knows just how to command a presence. The vocal performance is full of gracious harmony, with a slight seductive ring in her voice, but still expressive of an underlying, love-drenched reflection.

Best explained by Bonnie herself, “Honey feels like that 3am tipsy text you might regret. Flirty, honest, sultry vocals. Harmonies a little Mariah meets the cheek of FLETCHER with the smooth ache of Snoh Aalegra. Built the beat off ring taps, jean slaps and groovy guitar. First performance? A whole room harmonised the post-chorus 'boys lie' back to me unprompted. And I rap! It’s playful, pretty, and gritty. I want to connect, so I launch every song with an immersive event. This one, an exclusive intimate experience in a secret location, as well as a live show, later in July, in a real boxing ring. Cos why not!?”

That rap comes out of nowhere, but hits hard and switches up the track's vibe. It’s high energy, confident and shows a different side to Bonnie’s emotions in flow alone. Able to switch between these personas, it’s showing control and then showing how she can let go. If that isn’t the sign of a very elegant songstress, it’ll be tough to find one.
