Manchester-based quartet By Wednesday returns with their latest offering, the atmospheric indie-pop anthem, 'Hitchcock Hero'.

Crafted upon a foundation of layered, ambient, reverb-laden guitar riffs, buoyant off beat drums and pulsating bass, 'Hitchcock Hero' balances its melancholic tone with a bright indie soundscape comparable to Bloc Party and early Bombay Bicycle Club. The track's evocative lyricism and understated vocal delivery seamlessly intertwine, inviting listeners into a world of contemplation and reflection.

Conor, the band's singer and lead guitarist, sheds light on the genesis of the track: "This song originated from a concept Rob, our bassist, recorded at home and shared with the band. We collectively developed our individual parts, transforming it into a dynamic and progressive composition. The moody bassline serves as the song's cornerstone, steadily building alongside other instrumental layers. The drumbeat adds a driving force, juxtaposing the song's brooding ambiance. Lyrically, 'Hitchcock Hero' explores themes of self-perception and victimhood, drawing inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock's narrative motifs of false accusation and pursuit."

By Wednesday's journey has been marked by packed performances at Manchester's esteemed venues, including Night & Day, Castle Hotel, and Retro, culminating in a sold-out headline show at Gullivers. Garnering acclaim from tastemaker press such as Backseat Mafia and Vents Magazine, and receiving support from prominent promoters like This Feeling, The Pentatonic & The Future Sounds Project, the band has cultivated a fervent following in Manchester's vibrant music scene. Now poised to unveil their most compelling work to date, By Wednesday are ready to take their music to the next level.
