Brooklyn-based indie-pop duo Eighty Ninety return with 'Hollywood Dream', a shimmering exploration of love, illusion, and the emotional weight of wanting your life to feel like a movie. Driven by pulsing guitars and sleek production, the track captures the tension between fantasy and reality, when romance starts to feel scripted, and heartbreak becomes part of the story.
“Hollywood Dream is about the way we romanticize intense emotions,” the band explains. “How even pain can feel purposeful when you’re caught in a narrative you’ve created for yourself — a dream that’s both intoxicating and confining.”
Brothers Abner and Harper James have spent the past few years carving out their space in the indie-pop landscape with a sound they describe as “808s and Telecasters”, merging acoustic warmth with electronic polish. Their knack for melody and mood has earned them 40M+ streams, placements across Netflix and MTV, and praise from Billboard, Alternative Press, and more.
The new single follows the duo’s acclaimed 2023 debut album, and signals a fresh chapter that continues to pair raw vulnerability with head-nodding hooks.
