Following a spotlight moment on Netflix’s global hit series The Survivors, UK-born, Sydney-based production duo Planet of Souls have released their hauntingly beautiful new single, ‘One’, featuring the captivating vocals of Australian singer Lily Papas. The single officially dropped on July 24 via Anjunachill, delivering an emotionally rich, cinematic experience that has already begun to resonate with audiences worldwide.

First heard during a pivotal scene in The Survivors—which soared to the #2 spot on Netflix's global viewership charts in June—‘One’ is a meditative, genre-blending track that seamlessly merges ambient electronica, modern pop, and filmic soundscapes. The song’s emotional weight, layered textures, and delicate arrangement have drawn comparisons to London Grammar, Massive Attack, and Jon Hopkins, positioning Planet of Souls as a compelling new voice in the ambient-electronic scene.

Crafted by industry veterans Paul Rogers and Tom Barlow, Planet of Souls is more than just a musical project—it’s a philosophical exploration. “We are all, at our core, simply souls adrift on a single planet,” the pair explain, speaking to the project’s focus on unity, reflection, and artistic collaboration. With ‘One’, this ethos shines through vividly.

Rogers brings a storied background to the table, having remixed icons like Underworld, Gorillaz, N.E.R.D, and U2, as well as composed music for UK national television. His counterpart, Barlow, is a celebrated synthesist and sound designer whose previous work includes releases on labels like 20/20 Vision’s UFO, Sudbeat, and Trojan. Together, they’ve created a sonic language that is as introspective as it is expansive.

“‘One’ was written during a time when the world felt particularly disconnected and dark,” say Rogers and Barlow. “The lyrics and tone reflect that experience—but even now, the message feels more relevant than ever. It’s about coming back to a sense of shared humanity.”

Built around warm, reverberating piano chords, atmospheric strings, and a powerful sub-bass foundation, ‘One’ is elevated by Lily Papas’ emotionally resonant performance. Her voice soars with both fragility and strength, guiding the listener through the track’s meditative core. The result is a piece of music that feels both timely and timeless.
