Sri Lankan-British singer, songwriter, and vocalist GILSKA opens 2025 with a bold sonic shift on her new single, Bad Way. Marking her move away from the EDM-pop foundations of her earlier work, the track dives into a darker, more cinematic soundscape—atmospheric yet still threaded with the infectious melodies and refined vocal delivery that define her style.
Gritty, raw, and haunting, Bad Way is, in GILSKA’s own words, “A warning, not an apology.” Her sharp lyricism cuts through the track’s layered production—keyed keys, sampled strings, swelling bass, crunchy beats, and subtle guitar—crafting a mood that sits comfortably alongside the likes of Billie Eilish, BANKS, and Black Honey.
“‘Bad Way’ is about a toxic relationship gone too far. It explores the aftermath of emotional abuse, flipping the narrative on the ‘psycho ex’ trope and revealing the pain that created her.”
The result is a track that’s both theatrical and deeply personal, unafraid to linger in the shadows.
From her classical beginnings to club anthems infused with her Sri Lankan heritage, GILSKA has carved a genre-bending path. Drawing on the legacy of her grandfather—a celebrated Sri Lankan pop singer—her music now fuses raw vulnerability with a cinematic edge, making Bad Way a striking new chapter in her evolving artistry.
