There’s a certain kind of darkness that lingers in the background, steady and unrelenting, like a thought you can’t quite shake, and on their latest offering 'Electric Gloom', Hollow Shift tap directly into that frequency.

From the first few seconds, the Athens-based duo establish a hypnotic tension. A low, pulsing synth anchors the track, moving with a quiet insistence that feels almost physiological. The rhythm section locks into place with mechanical precision, giving the track a forward motion that never quite resolves, mirroring the restless energy of a night spent wide awake.

Alex Zamparas builds the arrangement with a careful hand, layering textures that flicker and recede like distant lights in a city that never fully sleeps. The production feels immersive without being overwhelming, creating a space that draws you in rather than pushing you back.

At the centre of it all is Jessica Bell’s cool, distant, yet undeniably intimate voice. Her delivery feels internal, as if the words are being spoken to herself rather than projected outward. And that subtlety adds to the track’s emotional weight, making it feel personal in a way that leaves a lasting impression.

There’s a striking balance here between movement and stillness. The track propels forward, yet emotionally it feels suspended; caught in that in-between space where thoughts loop and time stretches. It’s this duality that gives 'Electric Gloom' its edge as it explores the strange clarity that can come with isolation.

'Electric Gloom' invites you to sit with the unease, lean into it, and understand it. And in doing so, Hollow Shift have created a track that doesn’t just echo the night, but becomes it.
