Emerging Liverpool quartet Honey Motel return with their latest single, ‘If You Didn’t Exist’—a rich, genre-defying track that moves from soulful indie-pop to flourishing alt-rock.

Crafted alongside acclaimed producer Alexandros Brits (known for his work with Clean Cut Kid, Michael Aldag, and St Catherine’s Child), the single captures a maturing band expanding their sonic boundaries. Blending shimmering guitar licks, beautifully warming vocals and surges of alt-rock energy, Honey Motel deliver a dynamic and emotionally charged piece that refuses to sit neatly in one box.

Rooted in the teenage friendship of guitarist Sam Meredith and bassist Jack Hughes, who laid the band’s early foundations, drummer Lew Fogg joined in the winter of 2023before new vocalist Freddie Griggs joined in April 2024, debuting as a four-piece at Liverpool Sound City 2024 and diving headfirst into the live circuit.

Reflecting on the new single, guitarist Sam shared: “This was the first song that really clicked with Fred. I remember playing it in one of our early rehearsals—Lew and Jack jumped in, and suddenly the whole thing came alive. Fred just instinctively understood what it needed.”

Lyrically, ‘If You Didn’t Exist’ meditates on the fragile linchpins that quietly hold our lives together—those unspoken passions, people, or rituals that, if lost, can shake our sense of stability. “It’s about the quiet fear of losing the things that give life its meaning,” Sam explains.
