Rising artist Elijah Moth is back with the highly anticipated release of his new single, ‘Doing Me,’ a dynamic blend of pop, R&B, hip-hop, and rap. Drawing from his own personal experiences, Elijah Moth delivers a track that explores the journey of authenticity while balancing the struggle of being a people pleaser.
Inspired by his quest for self-expression and staying true to his highest ideals, Moth crafted ‘Doing Me’ to celebrate the divine power within each individual. “This song represents freedom, understanding, and a sense of liberty from illusionary constructs designed to limit our beautiful and perfect creative ways of being,” Elijah explains. At the core of the track lies a message of self-love and empowerment, reminding listeners that love has the power to heal, create, and transcend limitations.
Moth encourages listeners to embrace their true selves and break free from societal expectations, channelling their authenticity to reach their fullest potential. The single is a bold and inspiring anthem for anyone on the path to self-discovery. Moth sat down with FLEX to chat about the concepts behind the track, and his journey with music so far.
Thank you for sitting down and talking to FLEX, can you tell us a bit about how you got into music?
I first got into music when I was 14. I was posting terrible songs on Soundcloud when SoundCloud was popping. I was primarily rapping but it all changed when I saw a video on YouTube of guys singing with guitars. As a 14-year-old old I thought I could win over all my crushes and become a star in school if I acquired this skill. So I made a bunch of trash-wannabe Bryson Tiller songs until I actually got good.
Who would you say are your biggest musical influences?
I am now at this time influenced by my own creative sparks that I receive within. I used to copy greats like Chris Brown but I realized that my authenticity would fly out the window when I would try to imitate styles.
Congratulations on your brand-new single 'Doing Me' —what inspired this particular release?
Thank you. What inspired the song was me going all in on what I want in this life. For years I tried to fit in and do what was accepted. Now I have no desire to live a life according to how others live.
How do you channel personal experiences into your songwriting, and what do you hope listeners gain from connecting with your music?
I allow certain beats to trigger an emotion and then I write based on that feeling. I hope listeners gain a feeling of power, love and peace because I speak about empowering spiritual concepts in my music.
Each aspect of music—writing, recording, practicing, and playing live—offers something different. Can you share a particularly meaningful moment from each?
Writing: When all feelings are conveyed in a unique artistic way
Recording: When love posses me and I lose track of time and space
Practicing: When I turn into a kid feeling lose like i'm singing at a karaoke spot
Playing Live: Sharing the love and passion with my brothers and sisters
Is there a song in your repertoire that holds a particularly deep personal meaning for you? Can you share the story or inspiration behind it?
My song “Be Free” Is significant to me because it signifies the transition from living in the pits of hell to basking in the love and light that is within all of us.
What are your goals for the future with your music?
My future goals are manifestations yet they will be revealed in divine timing.
What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away from your music?
That we are all completely healthy, rich and successful and all these qualities reveal themself once acknowledged within.
To wrap things up, is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I Love You.
