INTERVIEW: LONELY FOX

Hailing from Baltimore MD, Lonely Fox is a one man traveling band with bright plans and a hopefully even bigger future. Founded by Will Green during the pandemic, Lonely Fox was a way of relieving stress during an incredibly harsh time in history. Green began writing and recording with his best friend, producer TMcV, and hasn’t stopped since. Although he’s been on several labels in the past (Invogue, Standby, Tragic Hero, etc) as a metalcore musician, Green never truly found himself happy musically. When deciding to start Lonely Fox, he had only ever been a drummer, singer and bassist. He picked up a guitar only a year before the project began and ran with it.

He's just released his new single 'All This Time', so we caught up with the multi-talented troubadour to find out all about his new release and his first of 2022, exclusively for FLEX:

Hey Lonely Fox, welcome to FLEX!

Hey thank you to Flex for having me!

Could you describe your sound & style for any of our readers who may not have heard of you before?

I honestly write anything and everything that I think sounds good musically in a mostly alternative style. I grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s so bands like Harvey Danger, 3EB, Modest Mouse, and The Juliana Theory etc. really inspired me! Then I mix in some of my early 2000’s love, aka Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, the Blood Brothers and so on and just run with it! I guess you could say I just wanted to make something I myself would listen to!

Give us a fun fact about yourself we can’t find from Google/social media!

A lot of people have weird families but mine may be the weirdest. My father was a professional bowler in the PBA and my mother was on a duckpin bowling Television show. They met at a bowling alley and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the worlds nerdiest ‘sport’. So what did I choose to do professionally at a young age? Dance Dance Revolution. I toured the country with a team(yes, we even had matching jumpsuits) and played in multiple national level competitions.

Tell us all about some of your latest releases, which videos have been your favorite to make?

I just recently put out a song and video named ‘All This Time’ which has been, to date, my most successful on Spotify and Apple by FAR. It got picked up some decent playlists and I was thrilled! As for my favorite video, I absolutely LOVED shooting ‘Front Row Seats at the Public Execution’. It’s shot as a video from the 1950’s and it turned out even better than I could have imagined!

Please tell us a bit about your creative process when it comes to songwriting.

I write a bit differently from other artists from what I’ve been told. I wrote this entire new record on a classical guitar and then we recorded it with electric and I’m absolutely thrilled with how it’s turning out. My producer and best friend Tony(TMcV) in Nashville has me come in with the idea written out entirely acoustically(the lyrics and singing are also already written) and the he helps me bring them to life in a way only he could do! I’be been a drummer for my entire life so I’m great at contributing there, but as a bassist, guitarist and producer Tony can’t be beat.

Who or what influences your sound?

In recent releases it’s been a lot of Pup. I can’t get over that band. They’re doing something special in the music scene by being real. Also I’ve really been enjoying TSSF singers side project No Pressure a lot recently, and they were fantastic live.

& Lastly, what can fans expect from Lonely Fox next?

This next 6-8 months is gonna be wild. A full length album and 2 new music videos. 11 songs that are completely different from anything I’ve done yet! Very exciting times!!
