Congratulations on your new album ‘Afro Lover’- what inspired this particular project?
Thank you for your kind words! The album 'Afro Lover' draws inspiration from my personal experiences, cultural influences, and a deep appreciation for Afrobeat music. I wanted to create a musical journey that celebrates the vibrancy, rhythms, and emotions of African culture while infusing my own artistic expression. The tracks on the album reflect themes of love, unity, and the rich tapestry of life making it a project that holds both personal significance and a connection to broader cultural roots.
And do you have to be in a certain mood to write?
Definitely! I would describe myself as a writer who naturally embraces a positive outlook. This inclination toward positivity resonates throughout my songs, resulting in a consistently uplifting and feel-good sound that embodies a harmonious frequency.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was a fulfilling experience. Each song is crafted through a collaborative journey with some of the most talented producers. The recording sessions were dynamic and energetic. Overall, the process was a blend of exploration, dedication, and shared passion. I really enjoyed the making of the Album.
For viewers who don’t know Young Rob, how would you describe your sound?
I often refer to my sound as "sunshine music" because it radiates with joyful and uplifting vibes, accompanied by irresistibly catchy hooks. It's the kind of music that instantly brightens up the listener's mood and creates a memorable and enjoyable experience.
And what are some of those activities that you engage yourself in when you aren't writing or recording in the studio?
When I'm not writing or recording, you'll likely discover me relaxing by the beach. Traveling and exploring different parts of the world is a true passion of mine, as it allows me to embrace new experiences and gain a broader perspective on life.
