Jack Simpson returns with ‘Babies are Boring’, a playful power pop cut lifted from his EP ‘Jack Simpson is looking up at the Trees’. Known for favouring craft over noise, Simpson continues to carve out his own lane with songs that prize wit, melody and a quietly observant eye. ‘Babies are Boring’ leans into repetition and charm, pairing bright guitar lines with a deliberately simple structure that lets the humour land naturally. There is a gentle eccentricity running through the track, folk leaning at the edges but rooted in classic pop instincts.

Speaking about the single, Jack Simpson explains, “I was keen to explore the feelings of the older child when their mother had had another baby. Feelings of alienation and bewilderment are explored. However, tongue in cheek, instead of going up Thunder Road, the subject goes round on their bike in their garden. They then have no one to talk to and so discuss the situation with pet hens. The tune is deliberately repetitious and catchy, and indeed, children appear to love it even though it has been written for adults.”
