Joshua McCooey delivers rose-tinted new single ‘Dance With Me Sophie’

After emerging with his debut EP ‘Show and Tell’ late last year, Joshua McCooey recently returned with an adoring new single entitled ‘Dance With Me Sophie’. Drenched in a rose-tinted nostalgia, the track is a beautiful slow dance, with soft drums, gently arpeggiated guitar melodies and a vivid and warm vocal performance. Each lyric is penned with affection, with Joshua’s performance blending feelings of vulnerability with an unbridled pursuit of romance. An esteemed cast of musicians from the likes of James DePrato (Chuck Prophet), Uriah Duffey (White Snake)and Jeff Campitelli (Joe Satriani), as well as production and mixing from AJ Hicks and Michael Rosen respectively, bring the song to life with beautiful musicianship.

Joshua explains the meaning behind the track, ”I wanted to write a song that people could dance to. The song reflects my personal experience but my hope is that listeners can relate to it as well.”

Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area and currently enrolled at the world-famous Joffrey Ballet School, seventeen-year-old Joshua has already crafted a well-rounded artistic career. The songwriter’s musical journey is deeply rooted in his family’s passion for the arts. Starting out in musical theatre alongside his siblings, their vocal talents and dance performances inspired him to improve alongside his parent's unwavering encouragement.
