French-Canadian singer-songwriter Julyan returns with his unique brand of infectious power pop this month, as he offers up ‘Do Anything’, an excerpt from a four single series that will be unveiled throughout spring and summertime.
With intricate bass licks, punchy pop melodies and swirls of rhythmic guitars, the groovy downtempo beat is broody and intriguing, quite like the artist himself. A perfect soundtrack for the warmer climes, its perplexing lyricism aims to draw questions for the listeners, as he dabbles with the ambiguity of good and evil, reflected in the song’s bubbling crescendo.
After embarking on a solo career last year, following on from successful stints as a member of The Seasons and Forest Boys, Julyan has collaborated with an array of his long term idols, including Pierre LaPointe, and his eponymous debut EP was nominated for ‘Pop EP of the Year’ at the GAMIQ awards.
An alluring musician who isn’t afraid to take risks with his craft, Julyan is name to watch out for this year.
