Lucifers Beard have never been shy about weaving big ideas into bold soundscapes, but 'Welcome to Loveland' might be their most vivid experiment yet. The six-track EP unspools like a funhouse mirror, all neon glow and swirling colour on the surface, but shadowed by a knowing grin that says not everything behind the curtain is as bright as the lights.

At its core, the record is a psychedelic carnival fuelled by fuzzed-out guitars, stomping rhythms, and the warmth of analogue textures that seem pulled straight from a lost reel of 70s tape. But there’s a sly tension running through it where every burst of kaleidoscopic joy carries the faint echo of unease, as if the rollercoaster might just fly off the tracks at any moment.

The title-track dances between irresistible groove and uneasy undertone, while 'Space Capsule Adelaide' launches the EP with a theatrical shimmer that feels equal parts glam strut and sci-fi daydream. Later, 'Desolation' leans into something heavier, a cracked smile beneath the glitter, grounding the whole project with a reminder of what lurks beyond escapism.

Bandleader Christopher Barnes’ vision for Lucifers Beard has always been part-theatre, part-confession, and here it’s delivered with playful precision. Even the alternate versions of 'Loveland' extend the EP’s theme-park metaphor, with one stripped bare like a ghost ride after closing time, the other reimagined through a dancefloor remix that refracts the concept into something stranger still.

With 'Welcome to Loveland', Lucifers Beard offers an invitation to step into a world where fantasy is seductive, truth is unnerving, and the two are impossible to untangle. It’s messy, magnetic, and entirely their own ride.
