With his eagerly-awaited new single 'Sleepwalker', Manchester’s Ben Heyworth proves that some songs simply wait for the right moment to emerge. Originally conceived nearly two decades ago, this track finally comes to life as a bold reawakening of his creative vision. What began in the quiet of 2006 resurfaces in 2025 as a shimmering, cinematic statement from an artist who has learned to trust the long game.

Long celebrated for his work with early-2000s cult favourites Minorplanet and later as the electronic pop project This Morning Call, Heyworth has always shown a knack for marrying melancholy with melody. But 'Sleepwalker' feels different; it's darker, denser, and more intricate. The acoustic warmth of his earlier work gives way to a moody electronic palette, where pulsing basslines and vintage synth textures collide with a restless, human heartbeat. It’s as if Depeche Mode met Soft Cell in a fog-drenched Manchester alley, then invited New Order to join the séance.

Yet for all its retro echoes, 'Sleepwalker' feels decidedly modern. There’s something almost cinematic about the way it lures you in with whispers, then uncoils into sweeping strings and gritty guitars that shimmer like city lights reflected in rain. Beneath the surface hums a tension between solitude and connection. Heyworth’s production work feels handcrafted yet haunted, like a diary entry written in code.

This release marks a reinvention for Ben Heyworth. 'Sleepwalker' captures the feeling of awakening from a long creative hibernation and realising the world has changed, but the pulse of the dream remains the same.
