NEEB bring soul, movement and heart to new single ‘You Are Not Alone’

NEEB sound completely in their element on ‘You Are Not Alone’. The Hartlepool quartet take a more reflective route than on their previous single ‘Feeling Tonight’, but there's still a wonderful sense of movement running through the track, with every part of the arrangement working towards the same warm, reassuring centre.

The opening percussion immediately gives the song its character. There's a subtle Latin influence in the rhythm, and from there the track settles into a beautifully fluid groove, with Mark Hand’s Rhodes and piano adding colour around Tony Waite’s bass and Mark Lloyd’s precise, jazz-informed drumming.

But it's Jasmine Weatherill’s vocal that ties everything together. She brings a calm, soulful presence to the song, delivering its message with enough conviction to make it feel genuinely comforting instead of overly sentimental. The recurring refrain becomes more powerful each time it returns, turning a simple phrase into something quietly uplifting as it plays.

And it's that emotional directness that is one of NEEB’s strongest qualities. They know how to build atmosphere without losing sight of the song itself, and ‘You Are Not Alone’ feels especially well judged in that respect. There's richness in the instrumentation, but nothing feels crowded. Instead, the band leave just enough room for the groove, melody and vocal to carry equal weight.

Smooth, heartfelt and effortlessly stylish, ‘You Are Not Alone’ is NEEB at their most inviting. It's the kind of song that settles in slowly, then stays with you long after it ends.
