Northampton’s rising garage rock duo, Fountain drop their eagerly awaited EP, Talking To Ghosts. With the buzz already building around their upcoming UK headline tour, this EP serves as a powerful testament to their rapid ascent in the rock scene.
Produced by the acclaimed Lee Russell at the unique Dulcetone Studio—a recording space within a chapel—the EP captures the raw energy and charisma that have become Fountain’s trademarks. Combining driving, fuzz-laden rock riffs with a bluesy flair reminiscent of The Black Keys, the release marries high-octane instrumentation with commercially attuned melodies. Punchy drums, distorted guitar lines, and a melodic, emotive vocal presence define the record, offering a sonic punch that reflects the intensity of their live shows.
Thematically, Talking To Ghosts explores profound concepts of transformation and renewal. “It’s a story of death and rebirth, bidding farewell to times that passed, whilst welcoming new beginnings; and being in conversation with both sides,” the band shared. Recorded over four months, the EP carries an emotional depth and narrative thread that complement its dynamic soundscapes.
Formed in 2023, Fountain has made an indelible mark on the UK music scene in a remarkably short time. Their debut headline show sold out in advance, and a series of electrifying festival appearances in the summer of 2024 solidified their reputation as a band to watch. Drawing inspiration from heavyweights like IDLES, The White Stripes, and Queens of the Stone Age, Fountain has honed a sound that is as melodic as it is gritty.
