Look Both Ways is an album born from reflection. For Perspective, their debut full-length becomes a space where memory, identity, and healing collide, filtered through funk-inflected rhythms and unflinchingly honest songwriting.

Written largely by frontman KG, the album revisits formative moments across a ten-year span, examining them from a present-day vantage point. The result is deeply personal without ever feeling insular. These songs aren’t confessions for confession’s sake; they’re acts of processing, shaped by time and perspective.

Tracks like ‘Late To The Party’ stand out for their emotional bravery. Influenced by Daft Punk’s metallic experimentation, the song explores coming out later in life - not with bitterness, but with a sense of arrival. It’s a moment of self-acceptance framed through sonic risk, reflecting the freedom that comes with stepping fully into one’s truth.

Elsewhere, ‘Dirty Game’ uses disco’s glittering exterior to tell a story of betrayal, while ‘Power’ confronts trauma head-on, reclaiming strength in the aftermath of someone trying to take it away. The album’s closing track, ‘Skeletons’, is its emotional anchor: a slow, stripped-back ballad written years before the band existed, documenting a moment of profound darkness and survival. It’s a brave way to end a debut: unresolved, vulnerable, and deeply human.

Musically, Perspective weave funk basslines, melodic guitar work, and rhythmic precision into a sound that feels both uplifting and grounded. The band’s chemistry is evident, each member contributing to a cohesive emotional arc rather than competing for spotlight.

What makes Look Both Ways resonate is its refusal to separate joy from pain. Perspective understand that healing often happens on the dancefloor, that movement can coexist with mourning, and that honesty doesn’t have to be quiet to be real.

With their debut, Perspective offer connection. Look Both Ways is an album that holds space for complexity, reminding listeners that growth often comes from looking back, while still finding the courage to move forward.
