Pook Hustle releases R&B tinged single "C.R.E.A.M." ft. Angela Star

Pook Hustle's dream of being a musician had to come to him. His first dream was to play basketball, however, the scholarship he very much wanted didn't come. This meant moving back to Brooklyn and getting a job in retail to support his family. He spent time creating music to escape his reality, however, pretty quickly he managed to create a signature sound that excited him.

He showcases his unique and signature sound in "C.R.E.A.M." The track features a colourful melting pot of melodies that come with hypnotising choruses and atmospheric verses. Warm piano lines ebb and flow between each other, whilst smartly-penned bars land on top. Drums cut through the mix, creating an infectious groove.

Speaking further about the release, Pook Hustle reveals: “As an artist, I normally sit on beats for months but when “WhatsHisName” sent the instrumental for C.R.E.A.M., I instantly got to work. Well sort of. I couldn’t write sitting still so I decided to ride my bike to Downtown, Brooklyn and next thing I knew, the words just started flowing. The hook was so catchy and fun that I instantly knew I had to contact singer/comedian “Angela Star” to be a part of the record. It’s one of my favourite sessions to this day because it was so much fun and my normal “Hustleman” approach to recording became play.

I love creative writing so on “C.R.E.A.M.”, I used visualisation to take the listener on a journey into an experience at a strip club. Growing up I was a huge fan of Daft Punk so electronic/dance infused music has always been a part of my inspiration. Furthermore, in 2013 I was entering my freshman year of college and during my first basketball season I heard “Acid Rap” for the first time & was greatly inspired by the Chicago “juke” sound.

With attention from publications such as Lyrical Lemonade, Respect Magazine, Earmilk and many more, we can’t wait to see where he’ll take this.
