Ratfink! return with a sharp-edged, sun-bleached bite on 'Plastic Bits', the third taste of their forthcoming album 'WHEN U WERE MINE'. From the first wave of reverb-soaked guitar, the track feels alive with motion, conjuring city streets and riverbanks in equal measure. Beneath its surf-pop shimmer lies a pointed observation with the debris and detritus of urban life refracted through a teenage gaze, playful yet undeniably aware.

At its core, 'Plastic Bits' thrives on contrast. Crisp, driving basslines anchor the song while chiming guitars curl around it, bouncing off each other with a natural, effortless energy. The vocal harmonies drift like fog over the melody, lending a dreamlike texture that makes the track feel both expansive and intimate. There’s a nostalgic tinge, reminiscent of coming-of-age soundtracks, yet Ratfink! inject their own mischievous wit, preventing the song from ever slipping into cliché.

The three-chord simplicity works to the track’s advantage, giving it immediacy without sacrificing depth. Every element, from the slap of drums to the airy guitar licks, feels deliberate as though the band carefully curated the perfect chaos. It’s both an ode and a critique, playful but with teeth, and a perfect window into the personality of a band unafraid to turn environmental observation into exhilarating indie-rock.
