Rona Mac Unveils Emotional New Single ‘Buttercup’

Admin

Ahead of the release of her forthcoming second album Honeymilk and Heavy Weather, Rona Mac shares her latest single ‘Buttercup’ as she further segments herself as one of the most dynamic folk artists on the scene today.

‘Buttercup’ is a beautifully mesmerizing track, brimming with wistful elegance and a vivid sense of melodic purity. The guitar work is stripped back and intimate as the track is gently guided along by Mac’s signature ethereal delivery. Each verse is loaded with emotional wisdom and heartbreak whilst urging forward a sense of mindful encouragement. Though ‘Buttercup’s maturity packs a powerful punch, there is a dynamic sense of joy and freedom entwined into the singles melody, leaving a euphoric sensation floating through the airwaves.

Speaking about the track, Rona shares, “There’s some simple beauty in a buttercup. A fleeting, yellow joy reflected onto chins, old and young, as you conclude that yes, indeed, we do like butter. This song was written during a time when I was simultaneously reeling from grief and giddy from falling in love. In my experience, when people die life gets crisper, more tangible and valuable and fragile. I was holding a new love in my arms with the fresh re-acknowledgement that everything is temporary. Amongst the turmoil of emotion, it made simple things, like buttercups, all the more special. And I think buttercups have kind faces, don’t you?”
