West Lothian indie rockers Heavy Weather continue their upward trajectory with the release of 'White Noise', a soaring, guitar-driven anthem that signals the beginning of a new chapter for one of Scotland's most exciting emerging bands.
The single, which is out now, serves as the opening track from the band's forthcoming second EP and finds the five-piece embracing the widescreen sound of classic British guitar music. Drawing on the melodic swagger of bands like The Stone Roses and The Verve, 'White Noise' balances nostalgic influences with a modern, expansive production that feels tailor-made for festival stages and packed venues.
Produced by Mark Morrow, whose previous credits include Swim School, Wrest and Fright Years, the track pairs shimmering guitars with driving rhythms, weighty bass and soaring vocal melodies. It's a confident evolution in Heavy Weather's sound, retaining the raw energy that has defined the band while pushing towards something more ambitious.
Beneath its uplifting exterior, 'White Noise' explores themes of anxiety, uncertainty and information overload. At its heart, however, the song is about resisting that constant pressure and finding moments of escape in the people and experiences that matter most.
The band said:
"White Noise was a conscious effort to capture the anthemic swagger of a lot of 90s tunes that we grew up on, mixed with our own stamp of big guitar lines and catchy hooks. The song was inspired by an air of Britpop nostalgia in the past 12 months blended with our taste for moody textures and provoking lyrics. The song explores the overwhelming fear & tension in the world today and the desire to put it all aside for a second and enjoy what makes life worth living."
Heavy Weather have built a formidable reputation on Scotland's grassroots circuit over the past two years. Their 2025 debut EP, 'And Now The Weather', established the West Lothian outfit as one of the country's brightest new guitar bands, with explosive live performances helping to cultivate a loyal and growing following.
With 'White Noise' now out in the world, Heavy Weather Lewis Harley (vocals/guitar), Nathan Sinclair (guitar), Jack McFaul (guitar), Dec Fisher (bass) and Grant Herpich (drums) have delivered a statement of intent that feels both familiar and refreshingly current.
