Shadow Flowers introduce debut album ‘Blood Book’ with new single ‘Paraselene’

Southampton project Shadow Flowers have released 'Paraselene', the first major introduction to their forthcoming debut album 'Blood Book'.

Led by songwriter and producer Aaron Mills alongside Ash Babb and Patrick White, the track combines shoegaze, grunge and alternative rock through heavily layered guitars, atmospheric production and a strong melodic core. The song has already received early support from BBC Introducing.

Its title comes from an optical phenomenon sometimes described as a false moon, created when moonlight passes through ice crystals. Mills uses that image to reflect on grief, memory and the way familiar experiences can return in distorted forms.

Blood Book was recorded with Ian Davenport and later mixed and mastered by Peter Fletcher. Steve Christie also contributed engineering support, session work and string arrangements.

The album’s visual identity is completed by underwater photography from Christy Lee Rogers, whose work helped shape the project’s dreamlike aesthetic.
