London-based alternative electronic artist Sink continues to carve a distinct space in the experimental music landscape with the release of new single ‘Shallow’, out now (April 25th). This haunting and emotionally resonant track offers a glimpse into Sink’s forthcoming debut album Flaw State, set for release on May 9th.
‘Shallow’ marks a pivotal moment for the producer and vocalist, whose prior releases on Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA Community and Max Cooper’s Mesh label earned critical acclaim across electronic circles. With its hypnotic blend of glitching synths, falsetto vocals, sub-heavy basslines, and evocative sound design, the single captures a striking duality—industrial precision entangled with human vulnerability.
“‘Shallow’ is about the struggle to seek balance, in a world of hyperboles and extremes,” says Sink. “It plays with the fragility of something pristine while allowing distortion and imperfection to seep through.”
That tension—between calm and chaos, stillness and speed—sits at the core of Shallow. The track’s dreamlike quality is accentuated by nursery rhyme-esque lyrics that unravel against sweeping, cinematic instrumentation. Additional engineering by Nick Smart (Mammal Hands, Sunda Arc) and mixing from Cristiano Nicolini (Janus Rasmussen, Alessandro Cortini) elevate the track’s intricate emotional layering.
The upcoming album, Flaw State, builds on this thematic and sonic duality. Created over two years in Sink’s South-East London studio, it’s a deeply personal record that navigates identity, imperfection, and introspection. Featuring contributions from Rival Consoles, violinist Siobhán McCafferty, and composer Robert Murray Jamieson, the record traverses alternative pop, impressionism, and ambient electronica.
“It’s a weary journey towards acceptance, divided between horror and beauty, bringing flaws to the forefront of the process,” Sink says of the album.
Sink’s growing momentum is evident. His work has been championed by Worldwide FM, OpenLab, and Voices Radio, with sync placements across HBO Max, XBOX’s MotoGP25, and Adidas campaigns starring Lionel Messi. Currently collaborating with Adam Janota Bzowski (Black Mirror, Saint Maud) on the Netflix feature Night Always Comes, Sink continues to evolve as both an audio artist and cinematic composer.
Known for his immersive live shows, Sink will bring his spellbinding sound to audiences across the UK, Ireland EU this spring, including two support dates for Rival Consoles.
