In a release that feels as much like a cinematic experience as it does an album, London-based alternative electronic artist Sink has unveiled his debut full-length project Flaw State, a shadowy, experimental and emotionally charged body of work released on May 9th.
Known for his layered sound design and immersive performances, Sink brings years of quiet momentum to a crescendo with this long-awaited offering—his most personal and expansive yet.
Emerging from his South-East London studio after two years of meticulous creation, Flaw State is a striking blend of alternative pop, impressionism, and experimental electronica, marked by a fascination with contrast and imperfection. “It’s a weary journey towards acceptance,” Sink says. “Divided between horror and beauty, bringing flaws to the forefront of the process.”
The record’s sonic landscape is vast and shape-shifting: dreamlike, yet grounded by intimate songwriting, with moments of hushed vocal vulnerability giving way to cascading walls of gritty synths and glitched-out textures. Across its runtime, the album evokes comparisons to the likes of FKA Twigs, Son Lux, Bon Iver, and Nine Inch Nails, yet holds a voice all its own—one that oscillates between the ethereal and the visceral.
Sink has quietly built a reputation for boundary-pushing artistry, releasing acclaimed singles through Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA Community and Max Cooper’s Mesh label, and receiving airplay from Worldwide FM, OpenLab, and Voices Radio. His tracks have appeared on major platforms including HBO Max and XBOX’s MotoGP25, and in campaigns for Adidas (featuring Lionel Messi) and Respawn Entertainment.
Now, with Flaw State, that momentum crystallizes into a singular vision. The album features an impressive roster of collaborators: Rival Consoles (a central figure of the Erased Tapes label) contributes additional production, while Siobhán McCafferty’s violin and Robert Murray Jamieson’s bass clarinet add organic textures to the digital canvas. Mixing comes courtesy of Alex O’Donovan (Kelly Lee Owens) and Cristiano Nicolini (Janus Rasmussen, Alessandro Cortini), further elevating the record’s sonic richness.
The release of Flaw State coincides with two live shows where Sink will support Rival Consoles—onstage at Belgrave Music Hall (Leeds) and Button Factory (Dublin)—offering fans a chance to experience the project’s immersive energy firsthand. Known for his spellbinding performances, Sink’s shows promise to bring the dark elegance of the album into full, sensory focus.
Sink is also turning heads in the world of film, currently collaborating with composer Adam Janota Bzowski (Black Mirror, Saint Maud) on Night Always Comes, a Netflix feature directed by Benjamin Cranon (Andor, The Crown). It’s a fitting expansion of an artist whose work consistently bridges sound and story.
With Flaw State, Sink doesn’t just mark a beginning—he defines a world. One where vulnerability is power, imperfection is beauty, and every fractured sound finds its place in the whole.
